As promised, Christina Aguilera came to the VMAs to show everyone how it is done, and show us she did!

Christina is incredible!

The set opened with Christina way up high behind what looked like glass windows.  She was wearing a black mask and a very sexy black outfit.  She was writhing back and forth to the music and then I realized she was singing Genie in a Bottle!  Talk about changing it up!  The whole set was black and sexy and Christina looked like Cat Woman! 

I was realllly digging the song but as soon as Christina descended to the ground floor at the first Genie chorus, the music changed and she went straight into Keeps Gettin’ Better.  Disappointment!  I wanted to hear this totally new version of Genie!  I sure hope she does a full version of this new take on her new CD!

At Christina Aguilera’s MTV VMA performance, Christina came out with dancers on stage and gasp!…She was wearing the spandex pants! Well, this time I’ll let it slide because it totally worked with her outfit.  But it makes me wonder if she was wearing them in…earlier this week!

Christina was wearing knee-high black patent boots, spandex black pants, a black patent belt and some funky other black patent vesting.  Her mask was removed for Keeps Gettin’ Better and she danced up a storm!  Totally loved the bangs!

Nearing the end of the song, some dancers put a sheer cape on Christina, and I’m not exactly sure why.  It certainly didn’t add anything to her performance or look.  I know that she says in the song, sometimes she’s a super bitch, so I was thinking the cape referenced this new super hero woman…but it was really unnecessary and a little distracting. 

I loved the performance, but I wondered if Christina was lip synching.  It just seemed that the music wasn’t fully matching her lips.  But I could be really wrong on that.

Not disappointed by her peformance of Keeps Gettin’ Better, the song did sound much better performed live than it did on the audio clip we have heard recently.  It’s a fun, fun song!  Can’t wait for more!

Four Stars Christina!  A+

Hey everyone, I’m watching the MTV VMA’s right now and our love Christina Aguilera was just interviewed out on the red carpet and ooooh baby!  She looks incredible!!!

Christina was wearing a full length black dress that had a large pattern to about the mid thighs that resembled a large spider web.  Christina was only on the screen a short 20 seconds or so, so please don’t hold me to the exact design. 

Quite interesting was Christina’s hair.  While it was flat and straight, she was sporting a full set of bangs. Is this Christina’s new look?  I couldn’t tell if it was a wig or not, but I really liked it!

Christina has completely redeemed herself and is once again the bomb!

Christina’s dress is gorgeous and Christina looks absolutely beautiful!

Christina told the viewers that she can’t believe it has been 10 years since Genie and that she’ll be mixing a little of the old and a little of the new and that she’ll be singing Keeps Gettin’ Better.

I’m looking forward to watching because it’s the first time we are going to get a chance to see Christina perform this year.  It has been a busy year for Christina.  She became a mom to baby Max in January and this summer Christina stepped into the studio to record some new songs for her upcoming Greatest Hits CD, “Keeps Gettin’ Better - A Decade of Hits”.

If you were thinking you might be too busy to watch the VMAs live tonight, here are my top 10 reasons why you should clear your calendar and plant your booty in front of a TV screen!

1. Christina Aguilera will be there (this IS the obvious reason, isn’t it?)

What started out as an announcement for a concert in Latvia turned into shows in Russia and the Ukraine. Then we heard that Christina would be headlining This Day’s Africa Rising final tour for the year in London.

Just announced, Christina Aguilera is headed to the Middle East.  Specifically, she’ll be performing on the hotel grounds of the Emirates Palace Hotel on October 24th.  At the Trump-Nakheel celebration, Christina said she has never been to Dubai, and now she’ll be a mere 80 miles away.  Perhaps she’ll stop over at the new Trump-Nakheel property!

ABU DHABI // Christina Aguilera, the Grammy award-winning singer, is scheduled to perform for the first time in the Middle East with a one-off concert at the Emirates Palace hotel in the capital next month.

Aguilera, 27, best known for such songs as Dirrty, Candyman and Genie in a Bottle, will perform on the lawns of the luxury hotel on Oct 24. Ticket prices and allocations will be announced next week and will go on sale in the last week of September.

Demand to see Aguilera, who has sold more than 37 million albums worldwide, is expected to be high. Up to 20,000 fans will be able to watch the singer.

“You should expect a top-notch production with high-calibre performers and dancers,” said a source close to the new organisation responsible for bringing concerts to Abu Dhabi.

“She’s a fantastic singer and has an incredible live presence; that’s what Abu Dhabi needs in order to activate the entertainment industry.”

I love Christina Aguilera. I think that everything about this woman portrays confidence and strength.

But let’s talk for a moment about spandex.  Yes, spandex.

Ok, I know Christina is tapped into fashion way more than I am.  In fact, I don’t even claim to know the slightest thing about what the latest trends are. Where Christina is a 10+ on the fashionista scale, I rate about a 2.  I don’t give in to trends; I just wear what I need to for work and play, and I wear whatever works well for me.

I love Christina’s style.  She takes risks and she has some outrageous outfits sometimes.  And at other times, she’s very dressed down in casual pants and a t-shirt. She always looks great. [always being subjective!]

Call me shocked, though, when last week Christina was out on the town in New York with husband Jordan Bratman and she was wearing… gasp …spandex! My eyes cringed, and my lips pursed and all I could hear myself saying was…”what is she thinking!!!???”

I grew up in the 80s.  Christina was barely 5 when spandex was all the rage (and yes, I DID wear it!).  And I know they say what’s old is new again.  We’ve seen bell bottoms come back in style — and they haven’t fully left yet.  And recently I’ve even seen leg warmers and suspenders!  I do feel like I’m back in the 80s again with the long t-shirts and leggings.  But Christina’s spandex leggings take the cake.  In fact, I think I’ll call it the fashion photo of the week because good or bad, it sure made a statement!

As I said in a prior post, Christina has been out and about lately and there have been a lot of photographs taken of her.  She’s coming out wearing some interesting outfits and I’m not loving them all.

The only thing that I own that is made partly of spandex is my gym outfit.

Hit or Miss?  In my opinion — BIG Miss.  Oh, and throw in the patent belt with the t-shirt and it increases the “Miss” factor. Uck!  Ah, but I still love you Christina.  Just not your outfit choices lately.

On Monday, September 2nd, Christina Aguilera was in New York City to launch Inspire, Christina’s newest perfume. The video was rolling and anyone who had a cell phone or camera took photos of Christina.

Recently, I wrote about how Christina Aguilera has mastered the art of seduction, and that where you find fashion and style, you’ll find Christina Aguilera.

Well, after seeing Christina out and about in New York and Los Angeles this week I was beginning to wonder what the heck I was thinking when I wrote that!  Then I decided it wasn’t me.  Christina Aguilera IS a fashion icon. 

The problem is that this week she decided to try some new outfits, and in my eyes the week was a bust…so to speak.

Christina started the week in New York kicking off her Inspire campaign at Macy’s in Herald Square.  Christina was on hand to introduce her new perfume and then signed the bottles for 200 people who bought her perfume.  Very cool.

I actually like the photo above and I think Christina looks pretty.  But it’s all a bit excessive — the eyes, the lips, the stark blonde hair and yes, Christina’s bulging boobs.

In My Opinion…
There are an awful lot of photos of Christina from the signing and undoubtedly she was caught at every unappealing angle possible.  But bad photography doesn’t explain the dress, the eyes or the lipstick.

I’ll keep this post specific to the dress Christina Aguilera wore to the Inspire kick off in New York City.  I must say I think it’s absolutely gorgeous.  I love the greens and blues and the little splash of pink and purple. But mama Christina, it’s a wee short and a bit tight! 

Christina has a beautiful figure but that doesn’t mean she has to wear a dress as though she is a Barbie doll who doesn’t actually have to walk in it!

Even Christina would have to admit to the dress being too tight.  Look how she’s holding it in place as she walks!

I love the dress, so the dress is a hit.  On Christina, it’s a big miss.  I think it’s about 2-3 inches too short. Christina’s boobs are too much for the Inspire launch.  I don’t love the thick patent leather shoes that Christina wore all week long, and I think the near neon pink lipstick is just too pink for her tones.

This week, Christina had a lot of press coverage from New York to Los Angeles.  The photographers were out there to cover her from head to toe and we saw a lot of great and not-so-great photos of Christina. 

What struck me though was how ‘unlike Christina’ Christina can look.  Sometimes I see photos of her and wonder if she used a double, because there is no way that photo could be Christina!

At the Inspire kick off at Macy’s on Monday September 2nd, Christina had photos taken from every angle.  I’m surprised there isn’t a naked photo of Christina Aguilera in there somewhere with all the shots the photographers and fans took of her!

Looking at many of the photos of Christina, I felt I was looking at another celebrity at times.  Certain poses and the way she held herself really reminded me of Priscilla Presley. Priscilla is a beautiful woman too and although she is much older than Christina, I was reminded of Priscilla’s look when she was younger and married to Elvis Presley. 

Granted, Priscilla had jet black hair and quite heavy and dark make-up back in the day, but if you pretend Christina has black hair (which we HAVE seen before), perhaps you’ll see the resemblance too.
