Friday Flashback: Genie in a Bottle live 1999

Today’s Friday Flashback takes us back ten years to 1999 when Christina Aguilera did a live performance of “Genie in a Bottle” at Music Mania. She looks so young, like a little kid!

It’s funny to watch this video because she was definitely a fantastic singer already and she could obviously dance and follow choreography, but when I watch this in comparison to a more recent live performance, it’s almost like she hadn’t quite figured out who she was as an artist yet – do you know what I mean? It was more like she was being who she was told to be, whereas in later years she was established enough to say, “hey, THIS is who I am and I’m controlling things now!”

I love to look back and see the difference ten years can make. Enjoy!
