Christina Aguilera tones down her sexuality?
So are we going to see a ‘different’ Christina Aguilera from now on? Has motherhood (and age!) finally caught up with her?
Christina Aguilera has said she’s trying to tone down on her sexual aggressiveness. The 26-year-old singer who is well known for being very sexually aggressive with her sexy outfits, sexual gestures and explicit lyrics wants to shed the image that has became her. Christina Aguilera, who wrapped up her ‘Back to Basics Tour’ in July said: “When I was younger I was rambunctious and I took on my sexuality in a very aggressive way.”
Christina also told Grazia Magazine: “Sex, rebelliousness, angst and aggression were all part of who I was. But I’ve got much more relaxed and playful these days.”
Xtina added, “I’m still a very sexual person but I don’t want to be so aggressive.”
Gee I wonder what in the world would make Christina Aguilera want to tone down on her sexual aggressiveness? Could it be the fact that she is indeed pregnant and will be a mother soon? Although Christina Aguilera hasn’t publicly confirmed she’s pregnant everybody knows she is. Toning down on her sexual aggressiveness now isn’t going to save her reputation now anyway. The child will find out eventually.

So Christina feels the need to tone down her “sexual agression” now that she’s getting older and is perhaps a prospective mother. Isn’t she going against all she’s stood for over the years? What has age and motherhood got to do with the way a woman expresses her sexually? Sounds like the old double standards she herself sings against. In order to be respectable after a certain age, and especially when a mother, one’s sexuality has to be kept behind closed doors, so to speak. “I’m a good girl now.” Do the same rules apply for men? You bet they don’t!

I don’t think that is the case at all. Christina is being true to herself through all stages of her life. She is saying that she is still a very sexual person, but she has moved on from the aggressive sexuality of her early twenties. Her song ’still dirrty’ from Back to Basics quite clearly talks about how she is still a very sexual person, still dirrty, still all for women embracing their sexuality and for freedom for women in that respect, but that she doesn’t feel the need to throw it in people’s faces anymore. Maybe this is her maturing. I don’t think she is ashamed of what she did, she just no longer feels that it is the stage she is in. I don’t think she is trying to play the good girl, I don’t think she is playing double standards. Did any of you see her Back to Basics tour? I think not. Because if you did, you would have heard her talk and sing about how every woman should be able to express themselves sexually any way they want to. And if she does not want to express herself sexually in an aggressive, angry and rebellious way, then it would be hypocritical of her to continue to do so. She has dealt with that part of her and is now enjoying another side of sexuality. Christina changed her image a long time before she was pregnant. I think that it is important that every woman be able to express themselves as they want to, both sexually and emotionally, throughout the changes and developments of their life. She should not be criticized for being true to herself, nor should anyone else.
